#044 Eric
Username: pyrozblast
Character Name: Eric Vice
Stage Name: Fox
Age: Nearly 17
Experiment Number: #044
Faction (and Expertise): Eric is a Zany, an unconventional one at that. When his act comes up, he messes with the audience members by poking them, jokily insulting them, or nibbles on them before running away to do the same thing again moments later.
Mutation: Eric is a hybrid fox/human to put in simple terms. His DNA was spliced together with that of Vulpes vulpes, the silver fox. From the two DNAs being spliced together, Eric gained a bunch of fox like traits physically and mentally. He can run the average speed of 70mph on all fours. His pupils can shift from a normal human’s pupil to a fox like slit depending on the amount of light that goes into his eyes. He also has nails like a fox to help him climb things like the trees in the garden. Also he has sharp teeth with four very long canines that are similar to a fox’s teeth.
Dorm Number: #01
Appearance: Eric has normal skin complexion, fiery yellow eyes and short bluish-grey hair. He is 5'10½" and has light, agile build for running at fast speeds. He normally wears loose clothing and he prefers them to be black or red in color. Eric only has one black and red man’s kimono that is a hand me down. He also wears a kitsune mask during performances to hide his face from the crowd and to look more like a fox and a long navy blue scarf to match the color of his hair. To add, he wears bandages around his chest and midsection to cover a large scar that goes from his left shoulder, across his chest, and down to the right side of his pelvis. He wears a collar around his neck that is used to restrict Eric from slipping away from the scientists for long period of times and restrict his running when they want too.
Personality: Eric is a charming young man. He is also very loyal, innocent and affectionate to everyone around him. People tend to find him attractive, but he must stay after from them because he suffers from Hedgehog’s dilemma for reasons that are explained below. He does become very talkative when it comes to strangers or people that he knows, yet he hides from the scientists. He has been known to snarl at his fellow experiments if they annoyed or angered him. One thing you do not talk bad in his presence is about Type-S because that will anger him to his near boiling point.
Background: Since before Eric was even born; plans for his experimentation had already been approved to start. The name of this project was Type E.V. short for what his name is now. Once Eric was born, the scientists placed him in captivity with a family of foxes until he turned four. He was then taken from that family to complete necessary tests to chart up how his mutation was doing.
During the next few years, Eric (age 9) was tested with every other week eventually meeting his best friend, Sabrina (age 10). These two meet during a test that pitted them together, Eric winning by over Sabrina with strategy rather than strength. Afterwards Sabrina was impressed but it took her a few days to become friends with Eric. Soon enough the two grow very close over the next five years, but little did Eric know that Sabrina had been mutated with a spider and that she was slowly changing into one every day.
That is when the day came… Eric, now 14, was asleep in his cell when the warning siren went off and woke him up. A scientist came by Eric’s cell and Eric asked the scientist what was going on. The response from the scientist was something that Eric had not wanted to hear. Sabrina had escaped from the scientists and was rampaging in the forest just outside of the lab that they were contained in. Unfortunately, the scientist also said that the only one that could take down Sabrina was that very person that beat her before, that person being none other than Eric. He agreed, not like he had a chose, to take care of what the scientists tasked him with.
Out of the lab he went with the scientists in tow, only to discover what was destroying the forest around them. It was Sabrina, but she was no longer looked human but looked like a giant 8 foot spider wrecking the landscape. With a few drops of tears down Eric’s face, he wiped them away, placed on a serious face, crouched to all fours, and ran at the now full giant spider Sabrina. An hour later, the scientists found Eric covered in blood, sitting next to the dead corpse of Sabrina with his head hung down as rain poured down upon him and the scientists. Eric, to this day, does know that he and Sabrina had fought in an underground environmental dome with a climate control system that simulates conditions of a real forest. The whole thing had been set up by the scientists, to test that he had matured entirely. That was nearly three years ago…
Eric has never forgotten that day as long as it has happened. He tries to stay happy at the goods times that he was with Sabrina, but if someone mention her name in a bad way, Hell hath mercy on that person.
Relationships:
* Type-S(Sabrina) – This person was at one time Eric’s closest friend, or possible lover, but she was deemed a failed experiment and was to be exterminated by any means necessary. Eric, being the necessary thing at the time, was forced to eradicate Type-S with his bare hands. All files about her have been sealed, destroyed, or just lost.
* Luci – Eric became friends with Luci after he was placed with the Zanies.
Trivia:
* Eric suffers from Hedgehog’s dilemma because he had to murder his first friend and has never really gotten over it.
* When Eric runs, he runs on all fours. When he walks, it is just like everyone else does.
* Eric is prone to sneaking up and scaring people.
* His favorite color is red.
* Eric loves being around people, but dislikes being around certain Gambits.
* Eric got his one scar when one of Sabrina’s legs cut across his chest during their battle three years ago.

#266 Cammie
Username: FoxofDissonance
Character Name: Cammie
Stage Name: N/A
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Experiment Number: #266
Faction (and Expertise): Cammie is a part of the Zanies. She doesn't have a field of expertise and usually does small tricks before the main segments to entertain the audience. She’ll tell jokes, mess around, juggle and do whatever needs to be done to keep the audience giggling; though most of the time she juggles a variety of colourful balls while rambling on and on in a silly and lively manner. Not to mention while changing color to match the current ball in her hand.
Mutation: The girl can blend in with her surroundings the same way a chameleon does. The scientists injected her with extra pigment and added in several cell layers beneath her skin, which is how she manages to switch colors. They also added in several chemicals in order to amp up the effect, so it would have more potential. In fact they claim Cammie’s color changing is better than that of a real chameleon’s. The girl can pretty much copy the color and texture of an object. However she finds it hard to sometimes return to normal, and from time to time she changes subconsciously to match her background. One of the risky side effects is that the chemicals have sort of weakened her skin, so when Cammie gets injured the bleeding tends to take longer to clot and wounds take much longer than normal to heal. This would be deadly if the wound is major.
Dorm Number: #07
Personality: Kind and caring. Cammie is the person who usually tries to look out for everyone else. She tends to get worried easily when the others are doing dangerous stunts. The girl is headstrong and persistent; she won’t back down easily when she believes she is needed. She’s the big sister type and is always there to give someone a pep talk when they’re down in the dumps. The girl is neither optimistic nor pessimistic, she tries to see things as they are and keep it real.
The girl can be insecure at times and tends to lack faith in herself. She thinks the others are amazing when she sees them doing their stunts and tricks. She worries about them, and cares about them, but a part of her feels like she’ll be nothing but a shadow, while the rest of them shine like stars. Despite her cheery exterior she feels lonely at times and Cammie definitely does not want to be forgotten or left out. She loves to praise others and cheer them on while bashing herself. The girl is her own critic.
On stage Cammie manages to shed all her doubts and be the clown that everyone expects her to be. She’ll be silly, klutzy and entertaining. The girl likes to chatter her problems away, so when onstage she goes all out with silly ramblings and off-key singing. Anything really to make someone else smile. Cammie genuinely enjoys seeing people happy, so the role of a Zany fits her. She is usually gentle and friendly to those around her, but when she gets close enough to someone she starts opening up and they’ll see that she has a sarcastic side and that from time to time the kind girl can be a bit of cynic.
Background: The girl used to be an orphan from Good Smile orphanage. She lived there alongside other orphans and was cared for by the nuns who ran the place. The girl was dropped off at the age of two by a middle aged couple, who stated that they could no longer care for her due to their meager funds. The nuns had told her that her mother was a simple housewife and her father a janitor that could barely feed himself and his wife. Cammie never hated them, it sounded like the most logical thing to do. At the age of five she was adopted by a scientist alongside Aiden and a few other children. They were grouped together to undergo tests and Cammie was injected with several vials of pigments, chemicals and cell layers, which gave her the ability to match with her surroundings.
Relationships:
* #267 Aiden: a childhood friend.
Trivia:
* Despite her convincing cheerfulness, Cammie would like to leave the circus the first chance she gets. She’s grateful for everything, but she does believe that there’s a better world out there. Away from the scientists and stage lights, a normal place teeming with possibilities.
* Cammie adores animals and will always rush to their defense.
* The girl does not like blood at all.

#324 Luci
Username: Naiko
Character Name: Luci
Stage Name: N/A
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Experiment Number: #324
Faction (and Expertise): Zanies; Mime and Juggling
Mutation: Bioluminescense; A trait she was born with due to experiments done prior. Chemicals naturally produced in her body react creating cool-light and while she shows no pain from the mutation her body, primarily the skin, shows a lack of pigments characteristic to humans. At best many can call her an albino but her skin has some translucency to it that doesn’t even fit being albino. Her body also runs a bit cooler and has a slower metabolism. It took the scientists a while to catch on to her quirks but once they did they realized part of her fussing as a baby was because she wasn’t hungry and they were feeding her like any normal child.
Dorm Number: #07
Appearance: With long ghostly white hair that is occasionally dyed various colors Luci has a peculiar appearance. Her eyes are a silvery pink hue and she stands a short 4’11”. Luci is not a true albino. Her mutation may have some things in common with albinism, as it is a few mutations itself that cause albinism. Translucent is the only way to describe her pale skin as it lets her chemical cold-light shine through. (Not to be mistaken for transparency. You can’t see her muscles or organs or any of that junk though at times her skin may appear more pink/blue depending on lighting from the veins and muscle.)
As far as wardrobe goes Luci comfortably wears thin but long sleeve shirts and turtlenecks specifically designed to limit the amount of sun that reaches her skin. In addition she’ll often sport pants or shorts with thigh high stockings to conceal her light sensitive skin. The only exception to these times are when she’s on stage or she feels like wearing a dress of sorts. In those cases the lighting is low to none on the stage and if she’s wearing a dress around the artificial light she sports an umbrella of sorts to keep the light off. As to not forget her precious little head Luci almost always wears a spiffy hat and a scarf if she isn’t wearing a turtleneck.
Personality: Luci is not your boisterous and talkative zany. She is very expressive in her gestures and she does indeed talk but in a relatively soft voice. Raised to be a kind and obedient child who wouldn’t stir up trouble, she gets along fairly well with most anyone that will put up with her quiet nature. She isn’t fond of violence or yelling and for the most part leads a calm quiet existence...that is until she gets excited or worked up. Particularly inquisitive, her expressive gestures and bottomless pit of questions come forth if her interest is captivated. She loves seeing and hearing about new interesting things likely because she’s been living within the confines of the Nocturn Theater since her birth and is in turn a curious person.
Luci is also rather intelligent, not extravagantly so but enough to impress the scientists. The scientists are rather cautious of what exactly she learns to keep her from becoming upset for this reason. After all, there’s nothing gained from a depressed investment and Luci, like most, is particularly sad when she realizes how much the captivity of the theater denies her. Of course, she is naive about the surface world and gullibly believes that sunlight up there would destroy her. (Simply one of the lies that the scientists have told her to keep her intelligence from prying in areas they never want to discuss/respond to.)
Background: An unusual child from the beginning, Luci was born after alterations by the scientists were performed on her. As a baby it took the scientists time to cope with the drawbacks of her mutation; which included a slower metabolism, light sensitive skin, her cooler body temperature, and her poor “day-light” eyesight. She was overfed as a child and would often weep. Until clothes were made to protect her skin from the excess light she was kept in dimly lit rooms. Medical check ups were adapted to record her slightly lower body temperature as “normal” for her and for the earlier years in her life she stumbled around clumsily during the day.
Months passed and her eyesight improved. Scientists didn’t particularly dote on her but they did feel a need to help her understand what they wanted her to do. She was shown bioluminescent creatures in a small tank in a lab room until she started showing better control over what chemicals were released beneath the skin to produce varying types of cold-light. When this better control was displayed eventually the time periods she was allowed to look at the tank under strict supervision were taken away altogether and she was distracted with other fascinating things. This was mostly to prevent her from realizing the loss of the moving pictures and keep her from becoming upset over no longer having access to them.
When she reached childhood the scientists noticed her lack of verbal speech as she flailed about expressively. She even used her bioluminescence in what they could only compare to toddler babble, but she was no longer a toddler. Her lack of speech was concerning primarily because they couldn’t be sure of anything with no clear way to talk to the child. They tried a few methods to get her to speak more, including teaching her very basic reading of children’s books and talking to her in excess. She took most to mimicry of actions and miming which now reflects in her gestures but she can speak as well. She’s been allowed to read childrens books and a few other basic articles simply as tests of her intelligence but everything she’s allowed to read, including the articles are specifically censored by the scientists. While she can read her verbal vocabulary is greater than what she can read and the censoring of what she can and is allowed to read restricts her comprehension of texts.
As a child she talked to herself some to appease any loneliness felt from not having contact with other children and most people because she had to stay in her room. Now many years later she still talks to herself at times and has a hard time verbalizing her feelings, the things scientists seldom wanted to discuss. She also comes off as a tad desperate to make friends because of the years she couldn’t communicate well with the other children. She has a vague idea that the scientists have ever treated her badly because she’s been raised by them. At most she can express that they’ve brought her emotional pain, if not physical, by taking away the things she has liked.
She will also never forget about the jellyfish and bioluminescent creatures she saw at a young age. Somewhere along the lines she heard that there is a world beyond the confines of the Nocturne Theatre, likely from one of the adopted children, and she dreams of seeing the luminescent creatures again. This of course is a far-fetched dream as she knows little else of the outside world aside from the fact it exists. She also poses little threat to the scientists as she is not particularly strong and though she has very basic literacy skills. Scientists are extremely cautious as to what she learns/gets her hands on because of her intelligence but also because they fear that, by knowing and desiring anything more than they are willing to give her, she may go into a downward spiral. Such emotions could lead to health problems or even death and an uncooperative performer. Outwardly she appears happy but inwardly Luci bares undertones of resentment and sadness about the world being kept from her it is only those living at The Nocturne Theatre that seem to quell these unverbalized feelings. She also feels a need to be the “good obedient girl” the scientists raised her to be likely out of desperation for some sort of acceptance which is another reason why she hesitates to verbalize her negative feelings towards them.
Trivia:
* Luci flares up with color from her mutation when her feelings build up inside her or she is startled.
* She loves animals but is restricted to those seen in books.
* Drawing/Painting is her fun past time and she’s pretty good at it, however, she rarely has time to put that much detail into anything so her drawings look like a childs.
* Luci is prone to dizzy spells if she gets too much sunlight or eats too little.
* Her breath is laced with the luminescent chemicals in her system when she triggers it. So you can sometimes see her breath in a dark room when she exhales. Similarly if she sneezes in a dark room you can see it too because sneezing usually triggers the release of chemicals just upon reflex, like when she’s startled.

#330 Scott
Username: Sayu
Character Name: Scott
Stage Name: N/A
Age: 15 (Nearly 16)
Gender: Male
Experiment Number: #330
Faction (and Expertise): A Zany through and through, it’s a wonder how he’s only been training for two years. Scotty’s act on stage revolves around a walking globe, a giant ball made of fiberglass and “physical comedy”. Basically, he acts like a clown while trying to get onto the ball. When on, he shows off his talent whilst doing anything else he possibly can. The boy loves to get the audience in the act: teasing and talking to them. He often tries juggling while on the walking globe with little success but often plays it off as part of the act, it usually gets a laugh from the audience when a ball falls on his head or another zany's…
Off the stage, Scott seems to practice basically anything. He loves everything the Zanies do and has taken it upon himself to try and become multi-talented. With hard work, he has some skill in a number of things ranging from juggling, plate spinning, riddles and even singing. Although, he obviously hasn’t mastered any of these things. He sometimes seems to practice things that more fit an Aerial performer, practicing acrobatic like things all the time just to add to his act. It’s obvious he was born for this job, loving it with all his heart.
Even though he is successful in a handful of skills, he isn’t a very good singer and he cannot do magic tricks for the life of him. Oh well…
Mutation: Experimented on before he was even born, Scotty has lived with his mutations his entire life and knows no different. He was given cat’s eyes, literally, along with super hearing and a few other quirky things not many people notice. He has a cat’s vision: sharp and always watching. Anything that moves he can’t help but suddenly watch, tracking it like it’s his prey. It’s on the verge of being endangered when making sudden, sharp movements around him; he always looks like he is trying to control the impulse to jump on it. Of course, he also has superior night vision, able to walk in the dark with no problems. Like real felines, Scotty is more nocturnal naturally, but due to the scientists he is forced to be a morning dove. An odd quirk and disadvantage many don’t know he has is that he is completely colorblind, like real cats. Scotty can see purples, greens, blues and some yellows with ease but all other colors the boy perceives as shades of grey. Along with this, he constantly gets headaches. He may have been born with cat eyes but they are still not completely compatible with a human’s body. Along with feline eyesight, Scotty has a cat's hearing ability, his hearing is more sensitive as his entire inner ear is like a cat's. A side effect of this is that he has a cat's balance, to an extent. He doesn’t always land on his feet nor can he perfectly walk on a high wire without any trouble; he still has a human’s body. His hearing is sensitive but is not a complete replica of a cats hearing as the outer part of his ear, the part everyone can see is not fully shaped like a cats… nor is it fully shaped like a humans. Scotty’s ears which are usually hidden by his long hair are somewhat malformed, not quite feline like nor quite human… just somewhere stuck between the two.
The oddest thing about Scotty’s mutation is that no one had originally designed him to have a cat’s tongue, his tongue is all barbed like a cat's so it has the classic feel of sandpaper associated with cats. Of course with all this cat DNA running through his system Scotty exhibits many cat like behaviors like constantly napping or even licking himself when dirty.
Dorm Number: #03
Appearance: The most striking feature about Scott is obviously his eyes, golden and slit and always watching something with utter focus (even if it's just a wall). Another odd thing about his appearance is that he is a natural ginger, not a red head but literally ginger. His hair color is like a typical domestic Tom cats though you wouldn’t know this on first inspection as, for the purpose of the circus, he has dyed it a dramatic bright yellow – his favorite color no less. His mop of hair comes midway down to his neck, covering his disaster called ears. Malformed due to his mutation, he has always covered them as best as he can; even going as far as wearing hats. When approached about his ears the boy will always dodge the question and become red-faced with embarrassment, it’s really the only thing about his appearance he has no pride in. His dyed yellow hair is cut best to fit a Zany or what he scientists think would be best – slightly layered with different sections cut into different lengths. It really has a “messy yet tidy” look as opposed to “messy like you just woke up”. The boy has mismatched bangs which often fall in front of his golden eyes, he never does anything about them though due to his ears, but sometimes the scientists will stick in brightly colored hair clips(often pink!) if it seems to be getting too into his way for a show.
Scotty has a slender build and reaches 170 cm/ 5’7”, he has wide set shoulders but the rest of his frame is relatively slim. To most, Scott looks very tall and thin despite not being that tall, a look exaggerated by his thin long arms and matching fingers. His feet are funny enough, not thin but long and quite wide. Scott has a slight angular face but mostly he still looks like a child with soft features. Besides his big cat eyes there is nothing striking about his face, everything else is soft or even dare say normal looking. Pretty much he looks like a typical young teenager in those respects though he personally boasts and says he thinks of himself as very handsome.
The boy takes utter pride in his attire, even if it’s extremely limited. He’s known for his flamboyant style, always bright colors and nearly never matching. It’s not his fault in all honesty, he thinks he looks just dashing but picking out clothing isn’t really what you should leave to a colorblind kid. He chooses bright-colored clothing as it’s the only colors he can see, everything else is a grey to him and even the colors he sees aren’t exactly perceived as it should actually be. Even with his odd vision, Scott nearly always wears something bright yellow.
Personality: Scott is a Zany and his personality does not hide this fact. He is typically cheery, nothing dampening his mood. Scotty is extremely curious; everything he doesn’t know fascinates him. He’s rather smart because of this, always wanting to learn about what he doesn’t know and even build on the knowledge he does have. He claims to know lots and he does, about a wide variety of subjects but he doesn’t know a great deal about anything in particular. His knowledge is scattered and patchy, he has no way of filling in the giant holes in his knowledge but maybe if he keeps asking ‘Why?” one day it will get answered.
There is one thing Scott loves nearly as much as knowledge and that is jokes. He just loves making jokes, often teasing his fellow experiments with jest though he is never truly “mean”. No feelings are meant to be hurt as he pokes and prods, if someone is hurt by what he says the boy becomes extremely offended and defensive when confronted about the mishap. He never means to hurt the person’s feelings and, in all honestly, he isn’t quite sure how to say “I’m sorry”. With his jokes, near naturally come smart-ass comments that range from silly, to actually funny and to darn right harsh and actually mean. Though once again, it’s all for the laughs and rarely does he truly mean it. When actually faced with an angry person - someone who is just fed up with him or just plain doesn’t like him - Scott doesn’t seem to care. If you confront him saying that you hate him, all you’d get is a smirk and a “Good for you!” from him. Now this isn’t because Scott actually doesn’t care, he has no real idea how to apologize or make amends with people so as a way to get around the awkwardness of him figuring it out he just puts on his mask and acts like it means nothing to him. Scotty has perfected the art of wearing a mask, you will never see the boy cry or be in pain – always happy like a true clown. The boy is unable to admit weakness. He doesn’t know how and his pride will never let him. He succumbs to the sin of pride, he takes pride in himself and will never let that pride falter. You will never see him in less than what he thinks is the best of his small selection of clothes nor will you ever hear him honestly admit that he isn’t perfect or even isn’t happy. Scott is known for his boasting and is teased by the others for it but it never seems to affect him, it’s just what he does to them… right? Maybe not, maybe the rumors and jokes hurt him but still the show must go on!
Background: He was born for the purpose of the organization's goal and his whole life leading up to the circus was full of needles and experiments. But the boy remembers little to none about his life before the wonderful Nocturne Theatre. Everything before this, really, all he remembers is a rose tinted dream full of raspberry tarts given to him by a certain male scientist and brightly colored picture books. He remembers everything good, anything that made him smile and brought him joy. Everything else is locked away in a black box deep in his subconscious. When the circus started, that's really when his memories started. The circus has brought him unending joy. The boy obviously doesn’t hate the scientists but neither does he love them, something tugs at his mind…the horrible memories of everything that they did to him, he might not really remember it but it keeps him from fully trusting them. Whatever happened to the man who gave him raspberry tarts for being good? Now he remembers the needles and the health checkups from his time with the circus and even if he believes it’s for his own good, he can’t help but feel he shouldn’t like the men in white coats. Still, if they wished him to do something he’d do it, all in the vain hope of another tart. When Scotty weights out everything bad & good, he strangely enough can’t make up his mind about whether or not he’d like to leave, like those other children want to. The outside world fascinates him, he is curious about everything up there…but he knows somehow he’d never get to see it even if he tried his hardest. So for the meantime he’ll perform his little routine while attached to strings controlled by those people. All he is is their little puppet after all.
Relationships: Scotty isn’t a loner yet he finds himself with no real friends, he talks quite a bit to a range of people during lunch and training yet he has no friends. There is not one person that he can count on to talk to or play with. Of course, Scott acts like this doesn’t bother him.
Trivia:
* His theme song is “Mirko”.
* He is not a big fan of sweets but he adores raspberry tarts. He’ll literally do anything for them.
* His favorite color is obviously yellow.
* Scott often naps throughout the day, he usually sleeps after meals for about half an hour or if he has one of his usual migraines. Bright lights often give him headaches and were you too suddenly turn on or turn off the lights, he’d be temporarily blind and given a migraine.
* Scotty is a bit of pervert, though he isn’t sure why he adores girls and can’t help but be curious about them. They're a bit of a mystery to him.
* He loves the aerials and spec-dolls, often sneaking into their training room to watch. He just loves watching them and even tries to do some of the things they do. When he sneaks into watch, he sometimes tries out their equipment when he can get away with it.
* Scott is a bit of a natural at gymnastics, he loves to cart wheel and do handstands and anything else he can figure out to do. He’s even known for walking on his hands whenever he can get away with it, he just finds it a hoot.
* He’s one of the few children who can read and write, he isn’t very good at writing but he can read a children’s book with little trouble. Though if you handed him a light novel he’d just stare at it not knowing what to do.
* He doesn’t like the gambits, majority of them are freaks to him and just seem…scary. He is genuinely afraid of the pain endures, how can they do that?!
* Scott loves the big cats that the animal tamers use and it’s the one act the gambits do he doesn’t dislike, the rest just make his skin crawl.
