Username: Fellen
Character Name: Lidiya
Stage Name: The Swan Princess
Age: 16 ½
Gender: Female
Experiment Number: #094
Faction (and Expertise): Being the Head of the Spec-dolls, Lidiya has always pushed to gather the ideal image of the perfect role-model in front of her fellow members. Still, her perseverance to do so has never really been enough. Several members of her faction despise her loyalty towards the scientists, when all she truly wants of them is to avoid punishment regardless of their views. She does extremely well in getting her faction to co-operate with the rules of the theatre, but mothering them is an entirely new matter. She honestly has absolutely no idea how to take care of children. If you were to dump her in a room with a bunch of miserable kids, all you will witness (as opposed to a concerned, consoling Lidiya) is… well, another kid on the verge of a breakdown. End of story.
As for her expertise, Lidiya’s passion lies in the art of ballet… or rather, blind ballet. Ever since the very start of her circus days, the dance has always intrigued her. Her small size and infuriating mutation have never stopped her from creating a huge presence across the stage, and her desire for perfection has made sure that all her movements are as fluent as can be. Most of the time, Lidiya performs as the leader of a synchronization-focused group. The audience members are always astonished by her exalted grace.
Mutation: Having the nerves around her eyes tampered with from a very young age, Lidiya has been mutated with the so-called-advantage of radar vision. There’s no doubt that everyone believes that the idea sounds far-fetched at first, but there is no denying the truth. Lidiya has her own permanently built in transparent radar screen on top of her ordinary vision. It permits her to track down the positions of every animalian within a 100m radius. It sounds handy, indeed, but there has always been a colossal fault in it – it’s permanent. The screen is distracting, and obstructs her full vision. She finds it completely annoying. The scientists completely disregard it. Thus, she is forced to perform and practice all her ballet routines blind-folded in order to evade the major distraction. The radar occasionally gives her chronic headaches when she attempts to focus on the reality happening behind the screen.
Dorm Number: #27
Appearance: In the eyes of all those worthy of critiquing, Lidiya does not disappoint as the Head of the Spec-dolls. Sure, standing at a height of 160cm/5’3” doesn’t seem very desirable at a first glance, but that’s simply a gentle reminder that she is, in fact, your typical ballerina. Lidiya is most remembered by her whimsy, naturally red curls that fall in bouncy ringlets and stop where her shoulders start. Of course, the red in her hair has generally been replaced with forever-changing dyes to complement her Swan Princess title. In response to popular demand, she tends to keep it a light shade of green or a dove white. Her eyes are a different subject altogether. On stage, they’re always hidden behind a cloth; however, off stage, she can never get enough praise for her gorgeous little irises. Double lids and long lashes frame them well, and her rare smile that turns both spring green eyes into half-moons never fails to please.
Lidiya has never considered herself to be pretty in any sense. Mediocre, is what she would say instead… while spending hours pampering herself up in front of the bathroom mirror. In spite of her protests, Lidiya goes through a constant, instinctive routine when it comes to taking care of her body. This includes: ensuring that both her fair skin and immaculate, heart-shaped face are in top-notch condition, hiding the various scars across her front and maintaining her flawless, hour-glass figure. The slightest flaw could flip her mood around for hours. Her wardrobe, on a different note, is purely decided by the scientists. While she would simply love a day spent lazily dozing on the leisure room’s couch in an over-sized jumper and a pair of track pants, all she really has to live on is an endless amount of dresses. Flashy, frilly, funky, elegant, casual – you name the style, and she will have it.
Personality: Imagine an unfinished, giant puzzle. Now, imagine that giant puzzle being made up of thousands of blank, white pieces that are just barely distinguishable from the other. This is what you are expected to work with when you confront the Swan Princess, #094 Lidiya. The only things you will get from her immediately are the words written on the cover of the packaging box – a blurb written to challenge – otherwise, you’re stuck with the border pieces until you’re smart enough to figure out her centre.
To begin with the corner pieces: Lidiya’s stunning, Lidiya’s inspiring, and Lidiya’s god-damn, cut-throat competitive. Challenges are her drug. Do not challenge her to a competition unless you are honestly prepared for the consequences. She hates to lose, and she will use almost any (fair) method to gain a win.
Now, despite her competitiveness, Lidiya is not known to be a victim of envy or a sore loser. Sure, she may throw a slight tantrum if her defeat is done too quickly for her tastes, but she will politely congratulate the winner before proceeding to train hardcore for an extra two hours. That’s right, Lidiya runs on perfection and pride. Having been smacked down several times by her defects back in the lab days, Lidiya has learned that she can go absolutely nowhere in the world unless she has reached the standards of the scientists – that is, becoming the ultimate super soldier. Burn down her ego and she will be at a loss for words for days.
Warning: this is a peek at the puzzle’s centre. She is more self-conscious than you think, but holy mackerel and fried cheesecakes if she were to ever admit that. Lidiya is overly sensitive at heart, having her image shattered one hundred and two too many times has caused her to become overly insecure and cynical. She locks herself in her own dimension, and there is no key in.
Background: “You can eliminate the pain, but you can’t eliminate the scars, the fear… the memories.”
Many of her fellow ‘experiments’ consider Lidiya as a somewhat happy person. She’s never really been sure how to respond to this. The memories of her child-hood are vague, often filtered with flashbacks of white coats, the experiments, gloved hands, bizarre lights and the blood. Always with the blood. Of course, there’s Emily, too, but that’s an entirely different story that Lidiya tends to avoid at all costs.
Having been born in the lab, life with the scientists is all Lidiya has ever known. She doesn’t even remember life before having the radar system inserted into her nervous system – only the sole goal and built-up desire to become the scientists’ ultimate super soldier. The successful implant of her mutation was only the beginning. Lidiya has additionally gone through dozens of extra experiments in order to train her ability to adapt and survive. Much to her dismay, none of the results concluded on a positive note. “Average,” was what they would say. “Flawed, once again.” The experiments ranged from testing her tolerance range in extreme environments, her ability to escape through booby-trapped mazes and… well, none if it was very pretty. While other ‘experiments’ remember the pain, Lidiya remembers her failures.
The most memorable of these experiments – that is, in Lidiya’s opinion – was what later caused her phobia of the big cats, or more specifically, tigers. They had placed her in an isolated field equipped with nothing but a dagger to use against a pack of man-thirsty tigers. She was expected to overcome them throughout a period of three days. She succeeded (finally, her very first successful experiment), but not without undergoing a serious case of trauma as a result. She was ten, for Christ’s sake. Her mentality was fortunately conserved with the help of a particular friend, but her mind had already marked her as a complete murderer by then.
Relationships:
* Her best friend goes by the name of Emily, and while she no longer exists, she never fails to pay her respect and remember her every little second of the day.
* Toby, on the other hand, is someone that she at least believes is still her friend. However, they suffer from a tight strain in their relationship due to conflicting views on the scientists.
* From the very beginning of her circus days, Lidiya has utterly despised Knox, Head of the Zanies, as if he were a pest to her soul – or so she claims. From spitting daggers and raging both physical and verbal wars, their competitive spirits never stop attracting attention. If their relationship is questioned however, both would immediately deny the possibility of a friendship forming. "Him and I? We're not even a topic worth the gossip. Hate is a strong word and our relationship is a lovely place for it to belong. That's all there really is to say on the matter."
Trivia:
* She has a peculiar habit of sleep-talking, although much of the things that can be comprehended from this are ultimately a bunch of nonsense.
* Liddy is an acceptable nickname in her book of personal laws… with exception to a particular Zany.
* She has never seen the rain, and hence treats it like a bloody phenomenon. She becomes extremely excited when someone speaks of it.
* Lidiya has a habit of scowling whilst swatting randomly at the air in front of her. No, she doesn’t do it because she suddenly finds the room to be malodorous, but because someone has most likely blocked her line of vision by repositioning themselves on her radar.
* Her super soldier training days have caused her to gain some uncanny reflexes. Sometimes, a little too uncanny. If you surprise her with the slightest tap on the shoulder, she will immediately jump backwards a few feet and hold up a martial stance. If you surprise her with a light prank, don’t be surprised when you find yourself knocked to the ground in less than a second. She sounds like a nut-crack, but these reflexes are exactly what give her the ability to understand the trickier dance moves in blind ballet.
